Choosing a barber chair for your shop
A barber chair is the most used piece of furniture in a shop, often seeing 15 to 25 clients a day. The right choice depends on the services you sell, the size of your clients and how your stations are laid out. Every barber chair in this range is built in our Foshan factory to your upholstery and trim specification and shipped factory-direct, so a full row of chairs matches.
Buying criteria
Pump and rated load. Hydraulic pumps on budget chairs are often rated around 300 to 400 lb, while heavy-duty chairs reach 500 to 600 lb or more. A higher rating means steadier lift and longer pump life in busy shops.
Base size and weight. A round or square base of 25 to 28 inches, with a chair weight around 150 to 200 lb, keeps the chair stable when a client is fully reclined.
Seat height range. Look for a range from about 20 inches low to 27 to 30 inches high so barbers of different heights can work without bending.
Recline and headrest. If you sell shaves, beard work or hot towels, choose a chair with a multi-position recline lock and a removable, adjustable headrest.
Upholstery. PU or PVC leather-look over high-density foam is standard. Smooth vinyl is easiest to clean; stitched or tufted panels look more premium but need brushing to remove hair.
Barber chair types compared
| Type | Lift | Typical rated load | Best for |

| Vintage | Foot pump | Up to 500 lb | Heritage-style shops, feature chairs |
| Electric | Electric motor | Around 400 lb | Premium shops, accessibility |
| Contract-grade | Foot pump | Up to 450 lb | Multi-chair fit-outs, schools, distributors |
Layout, compliance and installation notes
Plan about 5 feet of width per station on center and 6 to 7 feet from the mirror to the back walkway so chairs can swivel and recline. Electric barber chairs are built for 110–120V/60Hz; listing status (UL/ETL) is confirmed per model in the quotation, and a licensed electrician should check circuit loads when several chairs share a circuit. Under the 2010 ADA Standards, at least 5 percent of seating and work surfaces, and no fewer than one, should be accessible; an electric chair with a low minimum seat height can help with accessible service. If you sell in California, ask for the material declaration for Proposition 65 labeling of vinyl upholstery.
How ordering works
Send us your product list, quantities, colors and delivery ZIP code by email or WhatsApp. We reply within one business day with a quotation that confirms specifications, warranty terms per component, production lead time and freight. Mixed-model orders start from 5 pieces, and single units can be arranged on request. Samples and upholstery swatches are available, with the cost and freight quoted. After you approve the specification and pay the deposit, we build the order in our Foshan factory, inspect and pack it, and ship it by full container or consolidated freight to a US port, with door delivery by LTL freight and liftgate on request.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a barber chair weigh?
Most professional hydraulic barber chairs weigh around 150 to 200 lb, mainly because of the steel base and frame. Heavy-duty and electric models sit at the upper end. Plan for two people to move each chair, and ask for liftgate delivery if your shop has no loading dock.
What pump rating should I choose?
For general shops, a pump rated around 400 to 500 lb is enough. If you serve many larger clients or run chairs all day, a heavy-duty pump rated around 600 lb gives a wider safety margin and steadier lift. Ratings for each model are confirmed in the quotation.
Hydraulic or electric barber chair?
Hydraulic chairs need no power and are simple to maintain. Electric chairs lift and recline at the push of a button, have a wider height range and reduce barber fatigue, but need an outlet. Many shops use hydraulic chairs for most stations and add one or two electric chairs.
Can I mix different barber chair models in one order?
Yes. Mixed-model orders start from 5 pieces in total, so you can combine heavy-duty, reclining and vintage chairs with stations and stools. We can match upholstery color and trim finish across models so the shop looks consistent. Spare parts can be packed on the same pallets.
Can you put our logo on the chairs?
Yes. On volume orders we can add a metal logo plate on the backrest, embroidery or embossing on the headrest, and branded cartons. We send a proof of the logo size and position for approval before production starts in our factory.
Planning a fit-out?
Send your floor plan or chair count and we will put together a mixed-model quote with lead times and freight to your ZIP code.
